West Cork with JJ Travel: Scenic Views, Great Company & Unforgettable Memories

Updated: Jul 1

Few places in Ireland capture the imagination quite like West Cork. With its rugged coastline, colourful towns, breathtaking scenery and welcoming atmosphere, it's easy to see why it remains one of the country's most loved destinations.

Recently, our JJ Travel group set off on a fantastic few days exploring this beautiful corner of Ireland, enjoying stunning sights, great company and plenty of memorable moments along the way.

Day One – Blarney Castle & Bantry Bay

Our journey began with a visit to the famous Blarney Castle. Surrounded by beautiful gardens and steeped in Irish history, it was the perfect first stop before continuing south towards West Cork.

Later that day, we arrived at our hotel overlooking the beautiful Bantry Bay. After settling in, guests enjoyed a relaxing evening, good food and plenty of chat as excitement built for the adventures ahead.

Discovering the Best of West Cork

Over the following days, we explored some of the region's most spectacular locations.

One of the highlights was a visit to Mizen Head Lighthouse and Visitor Centre, Ireland's most south-westerly point. The dramatic cliffs, crashing Atlantic waves and breathtaking views provided countless photo opportunities and unforgettable memories.

The group also visited the picturesque village of Crookhaven, a charming harbour village nestled along the Wild Atlantic Way. With colourful buildings, stunning scenery and a relaxed atmosphere, it quickly became a favourite stop for many travellers.

Another day brought us to the beautiful fishing town of Castletownbere, located on the Beara Peninsula. Surrounded by mountains and sea, the town offered spectacular views and a true taste of coastal West Cork life.

A visit to Garnish Island was another standout moment. Famous for its stunning gardens and unique collection of plants from around the world, the island provided a peaceful escape and some of the most beautiful scenery of the trip.

Guests also enjoyed a free day exploring Bantry, taking time to browse the local shops, enjoy a coffee overlooking the bay, and soak up the welcoming atmosphere of this vibrant West Cork town.

More Than Just the Destination

While the scenery was spectacular, many guests agreed that it was the people who made the trip truly special.

New friendships were formed, plenty of laughs were shared, and everyone enjoyed the warm and welcoming atmosphere that has become synonymous with JJ Travel tours.
